Cake, a Los Angeles, CA-based sexual wellness brand, raised $1.435MM in seed funding.

WHO: Led by Hunter Morris, CEO, Cake is a DTC sexual wellness range of premium lubricants, and pre- and post-sex cleansing wipes. Every product is free from alcohol, parabens, dyes, sulfates, and fragrances. Cake believes people should have specialized, high-quality products tailor-made to their personal sexual preferences and activities.

WHY: The company intends to use the funds to create and manufacture additional product offerings and expand the team.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: “With traditional lubricants and sexual wellness companies failing to meet the needs of today’s consumers, we wanted to create a brand that promotes pleasure, fun and a sense of zero shame around one of life’s great pleasures,” Hunter Morris, CEO and co-founder of Cake, said. “Regardless of gender or sexuality, we want to offer specialized products that enhance your sexual experiences—especially those open to trying something new in the bedroom, but not exactly sure where to start.”

“We’re excited to lead the seed round for Cake, a brand that’s ushering in the future of sexual wellness,” Andrew Mitchell, founder of Brand Foundry Ventures, said. “The team at Cake is bringing acceptance and inclusivity into a category typically viewed upon with judgment or embarrassment.”
